Beethoven 5th Symphony / Schubert “Unfinished” Symphony : Boston Symphony Orchestra / Charles Munch
Beethoven 5th Symphony / Schubert “Unfinished” Symphony : Boston Symphony Orchestra / Charles Munch
This XRCD24 features the important works of both Ludwig Van Beethoven and Franz Schubert. Beethoven's 5Th Symphony was written over a period of 4 years and was originally introduced to the public in a performance that included his 6th Symphony and the Choral Fantasy, Op 80. Schubert's "Unfinished Symphony" features 2 moments and originally was given as a gift to the director of the Styrian Music Society, who promptly put the "Unfinished Symphony" away in his desk drawer until his younger brother discovered it many years later. Munch conducts the B.S.O. on both pieces recorded during the years when classical music was enjoying tremendous popularity.
